![]() ![]() Well thats what I'm selling, if anyone has interest in her please make me an offer. Perspex side and rear windowsĪlloy rims on the front, steel rears, tyres are M & S but after all this time I wouldn't recommend using them When I was autocrossing (grassland) I got to over 100mph, if the circuits had been longer I'm sure she would have made 120 + that was with 5th gear blocked off (though thats really an overdrive gear) She originally had a 2lt twin weber pinto but when I put the V8 in it was like driving in an armchair, so easy, predictable and awesome.ģ gallon alloy fuel tank with heigh speed pump (she's very thirsty 6mpg ) Ideally she would be a great Autocross contender though I can see her being used for circuit racing / drag racing, possibly rallying when made road legal. She is the same vehicle but has sadly been standing for the last 10 years. She helped me win the 2000 Home County's Autocross Championship and in my opinion she is something very special, if she went out next season, with the right nut behind the wheel she would win it again. The picture shows what she did look like in 2000, with some loving care and attention she would look the same or better dependant on how much you wish to spend on her. Last used in vengence in the year 2000, she has not been used since. First registered on 12/ 10/ 1984 this is one of the very few cars equipped with the 5 speed manual transmission, earlier cars being equipped with a 4 speed box only. This is my much loved Manta for sale., which I am loathed to sell, so it will take a very good offer to purchase her from me. ![]() The car presented here is a very rare example of one of only 59 wide bodied Manta 400 built. It was the 1986 Tour de Corse rally where a Lancia S4 crashed with no witnesses and no survivors that prompted the plug to be pulled on Group B and the emerging Group S cars. Group B rallying finally came to an end due to the high speed, high power and sometimes fatal accidents that were occurring due to the rapid pace of development. ![]() This was the time of the Audi Quattro, Peugeot 205 T16, Lancia Delta S4, Ford RS200 and the Metro 6R4. 7cu) rear-wheel drive contender at a time when Development was getting a bit out of hand - the 4x4s were emerging as viable rallying options and all the big players were putting money into some powerful machines. The Group B rally regulations required 400 versions of a car to be built in order to be homologated and Opel was no exception with the Manta 400. After the production of the world's first dedicated rally car, the Lancia Stratos, there were many manufacturers looking for successes in order to promote their production vehicles. Many documentation of the first owner comes with this car, and there is still a decal on the car from when the owner's hair salon won a award, which just goes to show how original and Well kept this car is. The car first, and long time owner, was the hairdresser of the rally legend Walter Rhrl, who advised him to buy this model, after becoming world ralye champion with the Ascona 400 in 1982. This car comes with complete history from new and service history, and is in original condition throughout without any modifications. 000km, engine capacity: 2410cc, 144pk, color: silver Available documents: German documents Number of keys: 3 THIS VEHICLE IS BEING SOLD THROUGH ONLINE AUCTION BY VAVATO AUCTIONEERS
